What documents do I need to import a car from China?
To import a car from China, you need two sets of documents — export-side (provided by the exporter) and import-side (your responsibility):
Export documents from DriveSino:
- Certificate of Origin — proves the vehicle was manufactured in China
- Bill of Lading — the shipping contract and receipt from the carrier
- Commercial Invoice — shows the transaction value and vehicle details for customs valuation
- Export Customs Declaration — filed with Chinese customs
- Vehicle Title/Certificate — proof of ownership
Import-side documents (your responsibility): Import declaration form(s), customs valuation documents, proof of duty/tax payment, and any country-specific certificates (e.g. SABS in South Africa, SONCAP in Nigeria, EU Certificate of Conformity for Europe). DriveSino provides all export documents to support your customs clearance.
